Fellowships
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)
granted Penn State financial support to begin funding
graduate student fellowships in the Fall 1999 semester.
Since then, the Penn State GATE Center has developed
additional government and private sector sources for
GATE fellowship funding. GATE Fellowships will be
awarded for study and research leading to master and
doctoral degrees in engineering sciences in fields of
specialization that include: (1) battery systems, (2)
flywheel research, (3) capacitor research, and (4)
vehicle systems integration/testing. The fellowships are
awarded to individuals who have demonstrated ability and
special aptitude for advanced training in automotive
engineering. The number and type of GATE fellowships
available will depend on the funding sources available
at the time of application. The Penn State GATE Program
welcomes and encourages applications from all qualified
engineering students and strongly encourages women,
minorities, and persons with disabilities to compete
fully in this program.
