Penn
State University is one of ten Graduate Automotive
Technology Education (GATE) Centers chosen by the U.S.
Department of Energy (DOE). The
Advanced Energy Storage Center is directed by Dr. Joel Anstrom, and is administered through the
Pennsylvania Transportation Institute (PTI). Several
units within Penn State have committed support to this
interdisciplinary program. This support comes from the
College of Engineering, the
Department of Mechanical Engineering, the
Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics, the
Center for Dielectric Studies, and the
Pennsylvania Transportation Institute. Industry
partnerships provide additional support to the Penn
State GATE center. This support, in the form of guest
lecturers, advisory board members, consortium
membership, and research project sponsorship complement
the long-term goals of the center.
